Dakar 2022 Route Revealed
The Dakar organization has unveiled the route for the 2022 edition, marking its third return to the dunes of Saudi Arabia. The race will start on January 2nd from Ha'il, in the north of the country, and conclude on January 14th in Jeddah, to the west, with a rest day planned in the capital, Riyadh. This route promises more sandy areas than previous editions, especially in the southeast of the peninsula. Furthermore, in 2022, a new "T1-E" category will be introduced, dedicated to low CO2 emission prototypes, aligning with the organizers' goal to eliminate internal combustion engine vehicles by 2030. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Dakar takes place in a single country, a decision driven by the need to facilitate event organization, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
