Mercedes-AMG is the sports division of Mercedes-Benz, responsible for developing and manufacturing high-performance sports vehicles and engines. The brand was founded in 1967 by Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, former employees of Mercedes-Benz, with the aim of transforming the German automaker's cars into competition cars.
